Bartholin's Cysts - The Rarely Discussed Nightmare

Now ladies this may well put you off your cornflakes but I think it needs talking about.

If you have ever experienced the misery of a Bartholin's Cyst which then becomes a Bartholin's abscess, you will know exactly what I am talking about.

Woman sitting - Bartholin's Cyst - motherdistracted.co.uk
The misery of Bartholin's Cysts is seldom discussed
Yes - this is one of those delightful gynaecological problems that can appear out of the blue and cause recurrent misery for years.

The Bartholins Glands are two pea sized glands located slightly posterior and to the left and right of the opening of the vagina. Their function is to secrete mucus to lubricate the vagina. This lubrication may help make sex a little more comfortable for women.

Sometimes, however, these glands can become blocked which results in the formation of a Bartholin's Cyst.  These cysts can grow in size so that it is actually painful to sit or walk.

Believe it or not, many women don't even know that these glands exist.  And many cysts are not diagnosed until an examination such as a smear is carried out by a medical professional.  You can have a Bartholin's cyst for years without it causing you too many problems.

If, however, infection occurs, the result is an incredibly painful Bartholin's cyst which may require drainage or surgery to get rid of it.

Nobody seems to be entirely sure what causes these cysts - the usual suspects are all there, stress, poor hygiene, bad diet, STIs and, rarely vulval cancer.  For this reason, if you think you may have one you MUST go to your GP to get it checked out.

The peak age for getting these delightful swines is between 20-30 and in theory, once you reach menopause the Bartholin's Glands are supposed to shrink so that you no longer suffer this problem. Great in theory but since I'm 51, rubbish in practice.

I had an abscess about 10 years ago and have a small Bartholin's cyst at present so believe me I am speaking from experience here.

Usually, the first course of action to treat a possibly infected cyst is a course of antibiotics.  In my experience this is a rather hit and miss method of treatment and, if the antibiotics cure the problem, there is no guarantee that it will not reappear.

At this stage, the home treatment advice tends to be to take over-the-counter painkillers and to take a sitz bath 3-4 times a day.

A sitz bath is a warm, shallow bath that cleanses the vulval area and can be used for everyday personal hygiene. It can also provide relief from pain or itching in the genital area. You can give yourself a sitz bath in your bathtub or with a plastic kit that fits over your toilet.

If an abscess does develop, the methods of treatment are usually drainage by the insertion of a Word catheter or, as I had done, marsupialization.

Marsupialization is the surgical technique of cutting a slit into an abscess or cyst and suturing the edges of the slit to form a continuous surface from the exterior surface to the interior surface of the cyst or abscess - in other words, creating a pouch which allows drainage.

My marsupialization was done as a day surgery appointment and the recovery time was quoted as being 2 weeks.  At least 6 weeks was closer to the mark and, what I was not told at the time, some sensitivity remains due to the scar tissue left behind.

Fear of surgery, particularly 'down below' leads many women to seek home cures and there are many sites which discuss the methods which have worked for them.

These are some suggestions but please note that their success is anecdotal and reported on various forum boards.

The homeopathic remedy Silicea 30C

Dose - 5 pellets under the tongue 2 or 3 times a day.

Information on the Wisegeek.org website tells us that:-

"Silicea is derived from flint or quartz and is an abundant mineral naturally found in the Earth's crust. Part of the structural makeup of bone and cartilage, the remedy is present in humans as a trace element. It can be found in connective tissues as well as hair, skin, and nails.

People who use this mineral believe that its cleansing effects make it particularly useful in treating dry skin, nails, or hair. This mineral is sometimes used to improve acne, blemishes, ulcers, boils, inflammation, or generally sickly skin. Infections from abscesses, skin eruptions, glass shards, and splinters may also be treated with it. Some people also use it in hopes of preventing hair loss and dandruff, and to reduce scar tissue visibility."

I am currently trying this cure at the moment which I found here.

Weleda Silicea 30C tablets - silicea for bartholin's cyst - motherdistracted.co.uk
Weleda Silicea 30c Tablets
Silica Complex

Now there is a great deal of confusion on the boards about whether the best cure is Silicea 30c (the homeopathic remedy) or Silica Complex.  An example of what I mean is HERE and, confusingly, HERE.

Silica Complex is a dietary supplement which usually takes its Silica from Horsetail Extract and is combined with other vitamins and minerals.

These are the kind of tablets referred to.

Holland & Barrett Silica Complex Tablets - Silica for Bartholin's Cyst - motherdistracted.co.uk
Silica Complex Tablets From Holland  & Barrett - £12.35 for 120
These are usually taken to help improve the quality of skin, hair and nails.  This particular tablet contains calcium, magnesium and zinc as well as the Horsetail extract.

Sitz Baths With Epsom Salts

As described above but with the addition of epsom salts, also recommended for post-partum pain and haemorrhoids.  You can find a recipe HERE

You can also buy a sitz bath which is simply placed over the bowl of the toilet and filled so that you don't have to undress to have a full bath each time.

Phoebe's Cure

Hands up, I don't know who Phoebe is but her 'cure' is much talked about on the health boards.  It is simply this:-

6oz calamine lotion
1 teaspoon Tea Tree oil
1 teaspoon Witch Hazel

Soak a gauze pad in the solution and press against the cyst for about 30 minutes.

Serrapeptase

Dose: 2 a day on an empty tummy. I found mine here.

Serrapeptase is derived from the Silk Worm and is claimed to help eliminate inflammatory oedema and swelling by breaking down abnormal fluids and protein and by promoting the absorption of these decomposed products through blood and lymphatic vessels. It could also break down and liquefy mucous secretions and fibrin clots and help antibiotics to focus on infection.

There seems, however, to be insufficient clinical evidence to prove its efficacy.

Finally, you might be interested in a book you can download for Kindle entitled "Bartholin Cyst Miracle Method" by Janet Freeland.

Available from Amazon.co.uk for Kindle
The book promises to help us learn how many women have cured their bartholin cysts and exactly what they did to treat them in the privacy of their own homes with no doctors or painful surgery. It promises to "reveal the exact method now used by countless women to get rid of their bartholin cysts for good".

Obviously I am not a doctor and the first course of action if you suspect that you have a bartholin cyst is to see your GP.

It would be remiss of me to suggest that you go off gung-ho and try these without prior discussion with your healthcare provider.

But let's live in the real world, shall we?

If the provision of gynaecological services were better in the UK and if doctors were a little more sympathetic to problems like this, then the health boards of various forums would be a lot less busy.

The number one response of GPs to any gynae problem seems to be a combination of antibiotics and Canesten.

Women know their own bodies better than any GP but this knowledge does not help them to make themselves heard when it matters most. - tweet it.

I will continue with my antibiotics and Silicea 30c.  I will try sitz baths and add a silica complex supplement to my diet.

Since I had my marsupialization I have had no further problem on that side (right), other than frequent irritation from the scar tissue.  I hope that I don't have to go through the whole process agin on the left!

Bartholin's cysts and abscesses are incredibly frustrating because there is a reluctance to treat them until the level of discomfort and / or infection is intolerable to the sufferer.

Is it any wonder that many of us, at least those of us who are brave enough to talk about it, are desperately seeking our own cure and would prefer to trust the anecdotal evidence of other woman than our overstretched NHS.

Please see your GP before trying any of the supplements listed above.

My Favourite Posts Of 2015

JANUARY

I started off January in my typically upbeat fashion, bemoaning the plunging of the village back into un-fairy-lit darkness and, rereading the post, I can cheerfully (!) say that things are exactly the same this year.  Greyness?  Check.  Incomprehensible travel company TV adverts?  Check.  Celebrity Big Brother?  Check.  New Year's Resolutions already bitten the dust?  Check. Oh well. At least we know where we all are.

FEBRUARY

In February, the four of us got crafty with the lovely people at Brecon Carreg and learned how to re-use water bottles in some fun craft projects.  Welcome to the World the rather terrifying Stewart the Robot and yet another Caitlin-inspired puppy called Lucy.

MARCH

In March I shared what it's really like to have your babies over the age of 40.  Would I change anything?  No.  I would have had them 10 years earlier if I could have, but life's not like that, is it?

APRIL

On a lovely warm April afternoon we went exploring to one of our favourite places,  Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan. We are lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful places to visit in South Wales.

MAY

In May I decided to share a little more about the family.

JUNE

In June my thoughts turned to the knotty issues surrounding female friendship and why, sometimes, our friendships can just die a death without a word being spoken.

JULY

And in July I pondered on the fact that so many of us mums give ourselves a hard time once the long summer school holiday hits when, in reality, we're all coping the best we can.

AUGUST

In August we went exploring again and discovered a fabulous castle right on our doorstep at Caerphilly.

OCTOBER

The 21st October was "Back To The Future Day", the day when Marty and Doc arrived in a future replete with every sci-fi gadget humankind could conceive.  Actually, they did get one or two things right but I contend that you can change your future in an instant, just by changing the way you think.

NOVEMBER

I always perk up at this time of year because I absolutely adore the run-up to Christmas, the lights, the shopping, the menu planning, the decorations - everything.  I also find people are generally nicer, happier and more approachable.  People you haven't spoken to all year get in touch.  There's a magic in the air.

Because there's so much to do though,  I spend a lot of time writing lists.  My memory is not what it was!

DECEMBER

In December I wanted to remind everyone that we can make all our lives better if we would only concentrate on the habitual stories we tell ourselves - and write some new ones.  It is often not helpful to cast yourself in the role of villain or victim.

So there you have it, 12 of my favourite posts.  I hope you'll stick around for 2016 and I'd love to know what you think about my writing.

How To Make Your Child's Bedroom More Fun

I’ve heard a lot of parents say that kids bedrooms should be neutral spaces so that they’re easy to redecorate as they grow up. However, I am a big believer in making children’s bedrooms places that are as fun and enjoyable as possible. It is their bedroom after all, so it should be somewhere that they love spending time in. Plus, if your child likes their room, they’re more likely to sleep in their own bed, instead of yours.

Your child’s room should not only be a fun space but also, somewhere that is creative. That’s why, when it comes to the decor and design, you need to think like a child. Ask yourself what is your child’s favourite colour? Who is his or her hero? What games does he or she love to play? When it comes to designing a space your child will like, it’s all about thinking like them.

To help you design a bedroom that your child will love spending time in, here are a few tips and ideas.

Incorporate bright colours

A brightly colour children's bedroom - children's bedroom furnishing ideas - motherdistracted.co.uk

For a child’s bedroom, bright colours are a must. If you design a bedroom that’s a dull, dreary space, the chances are that your little one won’t want to spend time in there. However, if you pack the space with colour, they’re bound to love it.

The easiest way to add colour to the space is by painting the walls in a bright shade of their choice. Or using wallpaper, to add extra colour. However, if you live in rented accommodation, the chances are that you’re not able to use paint or wallpaper.

The fact that you’re not allowed to make any permanent changes doesn’t have to affect how colourful the space is. As instead, you can add colour with accessories. Bright and bold curtains, rugs, wall art, bedding, and storage space, can be all it takes to create a beautifully colourful space.

For decor, use kids toys

Instead of using ornaments for decor, like your would in an adult space, use toys. This gives the room a more fun and child-like vibe. As well as using actual toys as decor, look online for decor that is designed to look like toys. For instance, you can get storage space that is designed like a race car or a fairy castle. Or, rugs that are shaped like a football or flower.

On the walls, instead of hanging wall art, consider using board games. You’ll find plenty of sites online sell board games that come with hooks and can be used as an alternative to wall art. These can make the room feel more fun and more child-friendly.

Pick the perfect bed design

When it comes to choosing the bed, it’s a good idea to think carefully about the design that you opt for. While it’s true that a plain frame design will grow with your child, it’s not as fun or exciting as a bed that’s a little different. For a bed that will allow your child’s imagination to grow, check out these unique cabin beds from Cuckooland. While they might cost a little more than a regular bed frame, they are ten times more exciting.

Be creative with lighting

For lampshades, get creative. Don’t just opt for boring ones, think outside the box. Instead of a normal lampshade, how about one shaped like the globe? To get an idea of what lampshade designs there are to choose from, have a look online. If you know where to look, there are some excellent novelty ones that kids will love.

Little kids are often scared of the dark, so it’s important to be creative with lighting in their room. On the ceiling, pop glow-in-the-dark stars, so that even when the lights are off, they can still see what’s around them. It’s also a good idea to add a nightlight beside the bed, so that if they wake up in the night, they’re not scared.

So if you want to design your child a bedroom that he or she loves, take note of the tips above.

Giveaway - Wake Up Looking & Feeling More Refreshed In 2016

It's that time of year when we tend to make loads of health-related resolutions and, if there's one aspect that many of us choose to focus on, it's getting a good night's sleep.

Fade Out Night Cream, Eye Cream & New Nordic Melissa Dream Tablet - giveaway - motherdistracted.co.uk
I have 2 prize bundles to give away.

Particularly if you are in, or headed for the Menopause, you may find you become quite friendly with insomnia.  And of course, work-related stress may rear its ugly head now that the festive season is over.

Whilst I don't endorse the use of sleeping tablets unless prescribed by your GP (and there's no shame in admitting that you need help sometimes), it's good to know that there are natural alternatives on the market which may help you get a good night's rest.

New Nordic’s Melissa Dream contains natural & herbal ingredients.  Plant extracts calm the body & mind and Lemon Balm extract helps maintain a restful sleep.

New Nordic Melissa Dream Tablets for Restful Sleep

Lemon Balm - Melissa - is traditional used to treat insomnia and support mental health and is clinically proven to support calmness and to help promote the onset of healthy sleep.  It is also claimed that it may contribute to optimal relaxation and help maintain a positive mood.

Fade Out Extra Care Brightening Night Cream - giveaway - motherdistracted.co.uk
Fade Out Extra Care Brightening Night Cream

The other aspect we may find needs attention in cold weather is our skin.  After weeks of too much sweet food and alcohol, coupled with parties, late nights and the general stress of being nice to our in-laws, our skin might look a lot less dewy and a lot more tired!

Menopausal skin tends to be drier anyway, once estrogen levels in the body drop and collagen and elastin production reduces.

The effects of winter can have a double whammy on our poor complexions so a richer moisturiser and a good night cream might be the answer.

I have been sent some of Fade Out's Extra Care Brightening Night Cream and Eye Defence Cream SPF25 to try.

Fade Out is a name I have long been familiar with but which I have not previously tried.  Fade Out is a British skin care brand with heritage stretching over 30 years and their range of skin care includes five key products to moisturise, protect and nourish both day and night, providing a complete daily moisturising regime with the added benefit of active natural ingredients proven, they claim, to even skin tone in just 4 weeks.

The ingredients include Vitamin B3, natural extracts of Liquorice and Mulberry, naturally occuring Sodium Lactate (produced by the fermentation of sugar and found to be an effective moisturiser) and Synovea (a safe skin lightener).

Naturally Occuring Lactide Acid helps increases radiance, Hyaluronic Acid helps plump and resurface skin to fill lines and deep wrinkles, Haloxyl helps to reduce dark circles, Omega 3 helps promote the repair of the skin overnight, by soothing and restoring skin barrier and Rosehip Seed Oil (Rich in Vitamin A) protects and moisturises.

Fade Out say that their creams offer a wide range of benefits such as lightening dark complexions, reducing age spots and freckles, correcting sun damage, evening skin tone and reducing pigmentation marks.

I found Fade Out’s Extra Care Night Cream to be a pleasant, non-sticky cream which was easily absorbed and which left my skin nicely moisturised the next morning. The Eye Defence Cream is equally effective and I like that there is a higher level of protection from the sun.  I never feel that SPF15 is strong enough these days.

Fade Out promise results in 4 weeks and I will certainly be keeping up my use of the creams to see if I look brighter and fresher at the end of the month.

The night cream is RRP £10 and the eye cream is RRP £8.99 from Boots.com.

Creating A Welcoming Care Home - 3 Crucial Decorating Points To Consider

Many of us 'baby boomers' find ourselves sandwiched neatly between caring for our children and caring for our elderly parents.  And, looming on the horizon is the possibility that we may one day have to make some emotionally difficult decisions about our parents' long-term care.

Nobody would want to live in a sterile, unwelcoming environment. Much can be done with clever decorating to create a place which fosters a feeling of security and comfort - and these are the type of places we would prefer our loved ones to inhabit when home care is no longer an option.

If you own a care home or any other type of residential home, the following tips are worth considering for the benefit of your residents and staff.

Creating a welcoming environment in your care home isn’t just about employing friendly, warm and dedicated staff; you also need to set the scene with well-considered decoration. Safety and hygiene need to play a part in the decision making process when it comes to interior choices but that needn’t be at the expense of the aesthetic appeal of your care home. It’s important to get things right for the residents and staff who will spend a lot of time in the same areas every day and to impress visitors to the premises to help your business stand out.

Here are a few crucial decorating points to consider…

Colour and light

You don’t need to be familiar with the seven chakras to engage in colour therapy to recognise that different colours can impact our moods. When you are choosing the colours of your walls, furniture and soft furnishings, this can help you make calculated choices to improve the daily experience of your residents. Yellow is a warm colour that is said to have positive connotations and research has found that it works to wake up the brain. Red, another warm colour can be associated with aggression and feelings of anger whereas pink is actually used within some prisons because it has been shown to lower confrontational behaviour.

The cooler colours of blue and green are said to have a calming impact upon our moods, but did you know that diners have been shown to eat fewer calories when eating in rooms where blue dominates? This is thought to be in part because of the low occurrence of blue foods in nature. This means the shade may not be an ideal choice for your dining room!

Choosing the right colour can make such a different to the atmosphere
It’s not just colour that can improve our mood, having a good presence of natural light is crucial in a care home where guests may not be able to go outdoors as much. Choose window dressings that allow light in while maintaining privacy and consider using bi-fold doors both externally and internally to allow light to flow throughout the building. There’s no need to stick with modern PVC if it doesn’t fit in with other elements of your design scheme, Creative Doors Direct have some nice oak options.

Choosing furniture

Ease of cleaning, comfort for guests and ability to withstand wear and tear; care home furniture needs to meet higher criterion than items used domestically. When selecting items such as arm chairs you’ll need to consider breathability of fabric, how easy it will be to remove spills and other stains for infection control purposes and whether the fabric will withstand constant cleaning too. Lookout for stain resistant fabrics and designs that incorporate spaces for easy cleaning as well as mechanisms for helping individuals rise and lower themselves where needed.

Surfaces such as chests of drawers and tables should be sturdy and easy to wipe clean. Where possible, choose designs that are free from sharp corners too. For dementia sufferers, furniture items that allow visibility of items stored inside can be particularly helpful. Drawers with gaps that allow easy access and visibility of the contents and wardrobes without doors or with partial doors are good examples.

Finishing touches

It’s often not practical to allow residents to personalise lots of areas of the home, though many homes allow to residents bring their own duvet set or hang their own curtains along with displaying personal photographs and art. This can help residents to feel more at home and also plays an important part in retaining happy memories. Retro decorating takes this element to the next level. The term describes the practice of decorating areas in furniture, soft furnishings and wallpaper or paint styles that residents are familiar with from the past.

Finishing touches can make all the difference
This type of environment is kept free from modern gadgets and might feature items such as old style dial Bakelite telephone. Similarly, toilets may use the monochrome style design with black seats that have long been used in public spaces. Decorating in this way can help some dementia sufferers to feel more confident and comfortable in their surroundings, though it’s obviously tricky to strike a balance for residents born in different decades or in some instances, different countries.

Have you recently decorated a care home or another type of new business premises? What were your biggest challenges and how did you overcome them? I’d love to hear about your projects, so please share your tips!

A 5 Minute Strategy That Might Save Your Relationship

God, people are so annoying aren't they?  And, having been cooped up with several of them for over 10 days, it's fair to say a few of us might be a little, well, tetchy.

Mug showing kissing couple - 5 minute strategy to save your relationship - motherdistracted.co.uk
Love is... bringing you your early morning cuppa

Unless you're a relationship guru or have rock solid assertiveness skills (no, me neither), that sanity-saving alone time, those moments of peace where you remember who (or even where) you are and that space just to breathe have probably all fallen by the wrapping-paper strewn wayside.

Oh, alright.  Yes it's selfish but we women often brand anything that is soul-feeding selfish.  Men, to happily stereotype and generalise, don't seem to suffer the same angst involved in taking time out. They'll chuck trainers in a bag and breeze off to the gym or leg it to the pub for a 'swift half' without having to raise it with their therapist later.

The thing about stereotypes, you see, is that there's very often no smoke without fire.  But it is very un-PC these days to say that.

So, what can we do to keep the peace and to avoid wrecking perfectly decent relationships with basically lovely people?  Some of us have a terrible habit of sabotaging the very things that make us happy for no other reason than we are bored and need to create a bit of drama - or we're crying out for some 'me time'.

It's no surprise that lots of relationships finally bite the dust during holiday periods when couples are forced to spend time together and have to deal with their issues.  Or the fact that there are no longer any issues between them whatsoever.  The latter of course is a common problem once the children have left home or are old enough not to need round the clock parenting anymore.

But, equally, sometimes it's just a bad case of cabin fever and too much time to analyse that's the problem.

I'd suggest that if you are finding yourself in fault-finding mode and wondering why your life hasn't turned out to be the Disney cartoon fantasy many of us baby boomers were promised, then you do the following.

When that critical voice in your head keeps yabbering away - "they never, if only they would, why won't they, " and on, and on, and on, just take 5 minutes and list 5 things you like and appreciate about them.

I'm not suggesting you get out a flipchart but just list them in your head or write them in your diary.

These don't have to be huge things - just things that make you smile and feel cared for.  Love doesn't always appear wrapped in a grand announcement.

Do they bring you a cup of tea in the morning?  Do they record your favourite TV programme for you if you're out?  Do they cook your favourite meal when you're feeling a bit down or run you a bath?

Everyone has their good points.  Well, almost everyone.  And I'm sure if you think hard enough you can remind yourself of why you thought it was a good idea to let them into your life in the first place.

Just 5 minutes.

To preserve one of the most important things in your life.

It's worth a try, surely?

Because if that 5 minutes stops you losing your temper, flying off the handle or saying something hurtful that you don't even mean, those minutes may be very valuable indeed.

The ONE Thing That Will Definitely Scupper Your New Year's Resolutions

How are you doing so far?  If you're like me, you'll have written a list of resolutions that is about the same length and complexity as the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Heck, short of wearing a hair shirt this year, you will be perfect dammit!

Girl in kayak - New Year's Resolutions - motherdistracted.co.uk
Make sure you're the captain of your own, er, kayak
You will have sleek thighs, a spotless house and the inner calm of the Dalai Lama.  No more excess consumption of sugar, carbs, things in packets or boxes, shouting at the kids, thinking anything vaguely 'toxic'.  You get the drift.

Days will be filled with endless random acts of kindness.  You are going to be soooo good, every time a butterfly flaps its wings, the lakes of positive karma you are generating are going to make a yak smile in Nepal.

Except.  Except....

I can guarantee that there will be a flaw in your cunning plan to be nicer than Mary Berry whilst combining the intellectual vivacity of a young Germaine Greer with the mysterious allure of Claudia Winkelman's fringe.

If you are not doing it for YOU - you're on a high road to nowhere.

Yes, if you have added a resolution to your list to make someone else happy at the cost of your own bank balance, peace of mind and happiness, it's all going to go pear-shaped pretty early on.

How many of us join gyms because our partners helpfully 'suggest' we'd look better if we lost a few pounds?

How many of us decide to read mind-numbing pseudo-scientific tomes and dreary best-sellers in an effort to make ourselves more interesting.

It's about as sensible as learning all the 64 words for 'the' in Russian language when the nearest you'll get to Moscow is a bottle of vodka.

There are, indisputably, resolutions we should undertake for the benefit of our health - drinking less, eating better, exercising more, but if we are doing any of these to seek someone else's approval, now is not the time.

I think our motivation to make serious, long-lasting changes can take a real knock if we fail with our resolution at the first hurdle.  Better to wait until we are ready - at a time not dictated by the turn of the year, the addition of another digit to the man-made records of time.  Man-made - there's the rub, to quote Shakespeare. Is anyone keeping a track of the change of years in the rest of our galaxy (apart from astronomers)?  No? Exactly.

You know, if you find yourself designing your life with the sole intention of pleasing others, the best New Year's Resolution you could make, if you can't quite kick the habit, is to please yourself.

If we are happy in ourselves, don't you find that a lot of petty problems fall away?  We don't worry about the extra pounds, our weird laugh, our inability to read a wine-list or, in Ieuan's case, a habit of adding strawberry jam to his chicken goujons.

We can learn a lot from our kids.  They embrace the moment and are glorious in their individuality - right up until a helpful adult suggests a few 'changes' they might like to make.  You can see where it all starts, can't you?

So, this New Year's Day, I hope you'll junk the resolution list and instead write a list of things to do just for you.

And if they're weird, odd or laugh-out-loud peculiar - good.

Trust me, the Galaxy Time Police are probably having today off too.

Happy New Year!
